Kentucky Horse Park  Located in the Horse Capital of the World, The Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky includes an RV Park!  We meet up with Karen and Larry at this idyllic place where horses are king!

The Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm and educational center.  We met up with Karen and Larry for delightful 'horse' couple of days.  

We rode our bikes around the Park and we were able to be on a tour taking us through Kentucky Horse Farms of the rich!

World-renowned International Museum of the Horse, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and the American Saddlebred Museum.  The museum traces the 55-million-year history of the horse.

The rein of nobility, narrated by William Shatner explores the world of the horse and a tribute to Man o'War horse, the most famous Thoroughbred ever.

Beautiful grounds year-round.  Tranquil setting and lovely stone fences and buildings, this national historic landmark is on the most genteel and beautiful racetracks in the world!

BARDSTOWN, KENTUCKY
Bourbon Country

 We departed Nashville and journeyed onward to Kentucky.  We agreed we would meet up again with Larry and Karen in the horse country of Kentucky. 

 Tim and I arrived at Bardstown, Kentucky 
(while Karen and Larry headed toward the Derby).   
We chose to stay at My Old Kentucky Home State Park which is a superb RV park with a golf course! 

   We walked in the 1790's historic town.   This building remains a centerpiece to town:  the Bells-old Courthouse.   In the middle of Bourbon Country, we found Hurst Discount Drug and Soda Fountain.

YES, the state song: "Old Kentucky Home" ballad is written by American composer Stephen Foster.  
We visited the mansion at Federal Hill where he was inspired. 

 He also wrote: "Oh! Susanna" and "Camptown Races". The amphitheater performs the Stephen Foster Story and produces the Civil War and Wizard of Oz 

musicals.

My Old Kentucky Home

We frequented Old Talbott Tavern, where prominent visitors included: Stephen Foster, Andrew Jackson, and Henry Clay.  Built in 1779 it is still a great place to see people gather.

We toured the Barton 1792 Distillery along the Bourbon Trail.  It is the oldest fully-operating Distillery in the Bourbon Capital of the World.  Coal remains a fuel for the distillery.  This is the Bourbon Center of the U.S. proven by the fields of storage.

MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK, KENTUCKY

The longest cave system (412 Miles) known in the world, the park was established as a national park in 1941.
