30 miles to the east of our RV house, we traveled thru the 4 million acres of heritage area of the Hudson River Valley to discover Woodstock was finally approved by city counsel on the Max Yasgur's 601 acre dairy farm in the town of Bethel, New York.

While in the Hudson River Valley we were compelled to go visit the farm where the most famous 1969 Woodstock Rock Concert was held.

The museum is captivating, as the festival was for so many.
Farmer Yasgur is gone from the farm now; and Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center and the Woodstock Museum is situated beautifully on the sprawling countryside.
The bowl-shape lawn remains; and the piled rocks indicate the platform area of the stage

We also came across the main campus of the award-wining CIA: Culinary Institute of New York!
I spoke with a few students lounging under the trellis, along the lawn. They said two-year degrees and Master degrees are offered at the Institute. Some said they will choose to remain in the area, upon graduation, to be a top chef in Hyde Park.
FINAL SITE was a visit to West Point Military Academy

We now depart the Hudson River Valley on our way to Manhattan, New York!

Great post, Linda & Tim.... That's great that you are heading into Manhattan to see the sights. The last time we were there was in 2014. What surprised me the most was the variety of foods one could enjoy.... I was most impressed w/ the gentrification of the Chelsea area and all their wonderful markets and reasonable dining. I'll try to leave a link in this post of a review of the eateries and cuisines throughout the NYC areas:

PS: Do not forget to experience the street food during your stay in NYC. There seems to be a food truck/cart on every street corner in Manhattan. Such a variety of cuisines. It's an experience in itself:
