Our final destination in Florida: Tampa Bay area in lovely St Petersburg!

Cross over the bridge to reach our exclusive Park.  Fort De Soto County Park!

Check in at the Office for our Site 231.  This is a beautiful county park for day and RV use.

See the waterfront through the Mangroves.
"Looking Out Our Back Door"
Rain, but wait it out; will pass in 5 minutes.

We went to Camping World to purchase a replacement front door entry lock.  We got the last lock in stock!  The store was lovely.  This is a photo of the front entrance surrounded by RV's for sale.  Inside the products were laid out designer fashion with Florida's hip, 'glamping' look.

This is the city of Tampa from the highway as we pass by.  Non-descript.  The 'bounty' is the next photo all along Tampa Bay.

This is but one section of Tampa Bay which is HUGE!
St Petersberg, Florida.
Nice art deco neighborhood remains along with 'new' from every decade here in downtown St. Petersberg

Lots of boats and shoreline here at the Gulf.  Opportunity abounds for boating these vast waterways.

Resort along the shoreline:  NO VACANCY!

The fun Brass Monkey along the shoreline.  A favorite.  Mike and Sherry had cocktails there a few weeks ago upon their return 'west'.  Tim and I drove by, but the shaded patio areas: NO VACANCY.  Imagine this place during High Season.   It is a beautiful deck with view to the Gulf waters.
Funky places too!
"Freaky Tiki Surf Shack"

BIKE RIDE at Fort De Soto County Park.  The bike trail is pleasant all along the Gulf Coast.

Gulf Pier

 Bike Trail along the Gulf

Gulls have their favorite fishing hole!

This man is the lucky fisherman that caught one!

This family is enjoying a day on Gulf Pier.  The little girl is holding a fish!

This fisherman has wheels for all his fishing gear.  I commented to him on his fishing
cart with wheels.  He replied: "Yes, I find the wheels make it easier that way" !

Snack Shack and Gift Store at the Park

Bike ride views.

The Fort De Soto and Military Post and Battery

The Fort De Soto and Military Post and  Battery was the primary defense.  This is a remaining 12" M 1890-MI mortars cannon with a maximum range of 6 miles.   This is the last of the 12" remaining in North America.
Local landmark: Fort De Soto County Park Historic, picturesque, and natural island on our bike ride.

The Park is a chain of five interconnected island, or keys, providing over 1,000 acres of beautiful parkland and beach.  Swimmers and picnickers are enjoying the beach.

A delightful, full-service area.  Swimming beaches, picnic shelters, nature trails, historic fort, snack bar and gift shop, boat ramp....all these features with our campsite right here!

Bike Rental area.  Tim and I have ours, but if you need to rent a bike, they are here just next to the canoe and kayak rentals....all at the County Park!

It is time to go North to Georgia now.  This has been an entire month exploring the Florida seashore.  From the Atlantic to the Keys, to the Gulf.  It is a beautiful playland.
One that many flock to during the perfect season.
This had been a 'humidity' lesson for us.  One we would not look to repeat.  Although this water-filled, boaty beauty is for the playful and young at heart.  To those that love to frolick in the water......it is all there for America in Florida.

Next, a change of pace and 'altitude': North to Stone Mountain Park: Atlanta, Georgia
