We arrive at Nehalem State Park (meaning: "Where People Live" Bay State Park, Oregon located on a sand spit on the western side of the  Nehalem Bay.  We are near the northern boundary of the state of Oregon.  This is our 6th stop on our Travel Tour 2019.  We have spent, as planned, the month of June along the Oregon Coast.

We could hear the roar of the ocean waves so we walked over the sand dunes to see the broad seashore, soft sand, and ocean waves....the kind of waves surfers delight.

We rode our bikes around the park to the boat launch, bay hiking trails, the airstrip, amphitheater, and the horse camps.  Beaches for horseback riding and ATV dunes and the plumes at the Sand Lake Estuary.  This park has electrical hookup and water with a dump station upon departure @ $ 31.00/night in the best space C-19.

We had a visit from a very curious deer and her fawn.  The deer came up close and stared intently at Woodstock.

Woodstock just sat there, so the deer finally found that Woodstock was not a threat.
One favorite meal (steak, not deer)!
We toured around today and found our favorite coastal town, so far, on this 2019 Travel Tour.  A street turnoff from Hwy 101: "Manzanita" (holds the title of having the third-most photographed scenery in all of Oregon).  It is a seaside city 25 miles north of Tillamook.  The population is 600.  It is well-kept, and a turn off the highway.  Flowers abound and the ocean is at the end of the main street.

Dog owners often look like their dogs.  This one a tall, slim Willit.
Many dog lovers; many places.Little Apple Market for locally-made picnic foods.

We had lunch at El Trio Loco Mexican restaurant where real, authentic Latin music played in the background.   The delicious crispy crust Mexican pizza with beans, meat, and cheese was served on a large, heated platter.

Notice the Stop Sign is built in with the building....everyone gets along here in this tiny town of Manzanita.

Bike Ride around our Nehalem State Park, Oregon
Sign on this little Ambassador trailer says from Canada (reminds us of Doug and Deb McPherson (just met up with them at McMinnville, Oregon last week) as they are originally from Calgary, Canada. EH!

Nehalem is a tiny coastal town filled with antique shops with vintage wardrobes and retro gifts at Angelina's.  Rock n' Roll lives at Nehalem Music and Game.  The shop carries a wide variety of guitars, amps, and other music accessories.  You can find a blast from the past of jacket patches, posters, jewelry and vinyl, and disc music.

Yurts, as an option to tent camping or RV camping.  Yurts are in every Oregon State Park, so far, on our Travel Tour 2019.

Bike Trail along Nehalem Bay.

Nehalem Bay, on the bike trail

More sites on our 10-mile bike ride around the State Park.

This is the Public Airport for all to use; it is located within the State Park (along the bike trail).  It stretches out here and at the end on the runway, a must to rise above the Nehalem Bay.

Two-mile walkabout with Ranger Program discussing environment and the deer, mountain lions, and elk, and bear that can frequent the area.............IN berry season!

Awesome place: It is all about Neahkahnie Mountain ("the place of the god") the highest coastal landmass north of SF and south of Canada.
The final road segment was completed in 1940.
The viewpoint of Manzanita and Nehalem Bay and Manzanita Beach.

To this day, it takes heavy chain wire strips to hold the mountain back from the road.

Tillamook:
It is, of course, about the cheese.  Tillamook Creamery IS a large cheese store you just can't miss...it is so large.  Be sure to go straight to the icecream!

Garibaldi: Port of

tiny, but an authentic fishing village.
Fresh Live Local Seafood: The Spot, Oysters, Crabs, Clams, Fish.

Rockaway Beach:  7 Miles of beach for the youth and people watching beachcombers.

Town of Wheeler:

There is always the wonderfully, endless, sandy beach everywhere along the Oregon Coast!

It is time to continue up the Oregon Coast.  Next drive-by is Cannon Beach on our way to Fort Stevens in Astoria.

My sis-in-law, Tracy gifted me this Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much large coffee mug to match the large desire of my fluffed cream with coffee morning drink!  ThX Tracy!

Cannon Beach:

This IS Cannon Beach

Art town: Galleries, Studios, Live Theater, Live Music, Arts Festivals in May and September.  We will plan a week here next time.  A reason to come back!
Icefire Glassworks where longtime resident and glass artist Jim Kingwell works hot molten glass into shimmering towers of color and iridescent glass art.

As we walked along the beach walk, these fine young men greeted us.  They are Safety Patrol to ensure the safety of locals!  They were so nice and glad to smile for a photo op!
The Blissful, coastal view at the beach at Cannon Beach.....along the local residences lane.
 Local access for visitors.
Make yourself at home at Cannon Beach Hotel, located ON the beachfront.
Local residence on Cannon Beach.  Classic Charm at the Beach
 Another Local residence
Note: We arrived before noon and were able to park in one of two RV spaces in midtown Cannon Beach at this bronze, public art piece!  Georgia Gerber's fun-loving Tufted Puffins frolic along Hemlock near the midtown parking lot.  Great place to stroll around shops......and the beach.

The Haystack Rock: Oregon Coast's most famous Sea Stack rock.
Four miles of beach stretch out from downtown Cannon Beach we see the most well known and most photographed: Haystack Rock rising 235 feet at the edge of the shoreline,  It is a protected and iconic National Wildlife Refuge and Marine Garden.  We saw seabird nesting spots and looked for the Tufted Puffins......(they must have been 'beachcombing') !!!

That was the essence of Cannon Beach.  A remarkable landscape and stunning coastline....place to be...there is magic here.
