Arrived at Thousand Lakes RV Park a few miles north of Capitol Reef National Park. We passed by the pastoral landscape with much agriculture. We notice the efforts by the Morman pioneers that came in the 1880s to settle the land and remain here.
This town of Torrey, Utah is remote and a perfect place to relax during the Labor Day weekend.
Thousand Lakes RV Park at full hookup ($40.00/daily) RV Park Muffin Gal welcomes the visitor delivering pre-ordered morning muffins! The pool and Grill are (covid closed) but the park offers Four Wheel Drive rentals. It is pleasant, clean and there is a full-service laundromat where I can catch up from our National Park stay at Capitol Reef.
We decide to go see what the locals are doing. We find the Rim Rock Stage located at the patio of the Spaghetti Western Cafe. This is clearly the perfect place to experience the local culture where the folks who live here bring their human intellect to the stage.
Rex Seabury AKA Utah Slim (also a trail guide for the Deer Creek Center) is a local writer and sings about the wonder of Utah's Colorado Plateau, and the struggles for its future.

Beautiful views and an eclectic blend of spaghetti, pizza, beer, and Western BBQ. The place is comfortable as an old shoe and decorated with Christmas lights....felt like we were in the right place to experience Torrey, Utah, population 189, and everyone in town was there.
