We arrive in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a visit to the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum.  This city population of 200,000 is situated

along the Grand River about 25 miles east of Lake Michigan.   The headwaters of the  Grand River begin from natural springs in Somerset Township in Hillsdale County near the boundary with Liberty Township in Jackson County before emptying into Lake Michigan.

Our Harvest Host home at Robinette's Apple Haus & Winery while in Grand Rapids.  Robinette's history goes back over 100 years.  The family bought the farm in 1911.  This is a perfect RV stop we highly recommend when in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We requested a two-night stay to have a full day at the Gerald Ford Museum and the host was kind to allow us a two-night stay at their apple orchard.  Oh yes,  ice cream was to be had at this family Apple Haus.

Gerald Ford Presidential Museum
38th president of the United States from 1974 to 1977.  He served as the leader of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives, and vice president to Richard Nixon.  He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and earned the highest rank, Eagle Scout.  He is the only Eagle Scout to have ascended to the U.S. presidency.
"My fellow American, our long national nightmare is over. (Nixon resigned and the Vietnam War ended).  Our Constitution works; our great Republic is a government of laws and not of men.  Here, the people rule.  But there is a higher Power, by whatever name we honor Him, who ordains not only righteousness but love, not only justice but mercy.  let us restore the golden rule to our political process."

"The three great principles which scouting provided--self-discipline, teamwork, and moral and patriotic values---are the basic building blocks of leadership."

Recreated dinner table place setting.

Geral Ford leaves Rancho Mirage, California, and is buried at this Presidential Museum grounds where he grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

An extraordinary man: Eagle Scout, educated at the University of Michigan and Yale University.  He served our country in the United States Navy.  Our country is made better because of his lifetime devotion as a Politician.

It has been about 3 weeks since we've been in the cities of Chicago, Illinois down to Elkhart, Indiana, and around to Grand Rapids, Michigan.  We are now going to head north along the east side of
Lake Michigan and enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors at the
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park in Honor, Michigan.
