Brookings, Oregon Harris Beach State Park 6/1 - 6/4 2019

We had to make one more stop for California to pay tribute to the Save the Redwoods League.  I do not believe we are 'tree-huggers'; however, we are deep admirers of the Redwood tree.  We stopped at the Visitor's Center to find the Redwood Grove established in Californa's redwood parks.  This Redwood Grove is the Charles L. McKelvy.

This puppy must have just returned from the Redwood Grove Trail.
Brookings is called the Banana Belt of Oregon.
We enjoyed the sunshine while we were there.  It is a tiny, charming community, population: 6,000; founded in 1908 by Brookings Lumber and Box Company, AmeriCAN: John E. Brookings.
The warm, dry, down-sloping winds that are funneled down the coastal range flow into the deep Chetco River gorge and reaches Brookings uninfluenced by the effects of the Pacific.

We take a stroll around the Park and arrived in time for our first Oregon Coast Sunset!
We're not in California any more.........Flox Glove Flowers are everywhere !!!

Chetco River at Brookings flows into the Pacific Ocean.  Sunset at the Beach
Sunset at the Beach, a short walk on the Camp Trail to the shoreline.

We went to the Harbor which is where the waterfront is to this tiny seaside community.
A Division of California Shellfish Co., Inc.  Hallmark Fisheries is the "Marketplace" where local fishermen agree on a price per pound for crab that can be brought to port to sell.  Then shipped to the San Francisco market...
...."All In A Day's Work" !!
 Commercial Fishermen's 'Office'!
Crab Traps will be hoisted to lead from the dock onto fishing boates.
Local Fish and Chips at the Harbor at the Sporthaven Marina, recommended by our Travel Friends.
Walking the Harbor Waterfront in sunny Brookings, Oregon.

Local scene of local fisher...people.

Locals fish from the dock!

We found a Concert in the Park at the beautiful amphitheater in  Azalea Park.

The band played tunes of Bob Segar and Creedence Clearwater.

A Good Day for soaking up the sunlight!

Time to Go Fly A Kite, so Woodstock can get some rest!

We walk to the beach with our kite.
Other Trail walkers.

This lady is drawing her artwork along the trail to the beach.
There are 'rules' and a 'language' to this beach walking!

Others come to watch the 'kite show'.
We find the perfect spot to launch the kite!

  LAUNCH !
