9/28/2018 Stop #32 Osage Beach, Lake Of The Ozarks, Missouri PEEK RESIDENCE

From: casarollnotes.blogspot.com
Tim and Linda Bunyan

Heading West from St. Loius, the Gateway To The West, along the Missouri River,
we have arrived at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri at Jeff and Gina's Lakeside residence in Osage Beach.
We are greeted by Jeff directing us to park our RV in his side driveway and offered his Mermaid Inn for our stay.  It was quite a treat to be in a 3 room abode.  Gee, the King size bed was ample size and a night-long search for Tim just by my side!  It was luxurious being in a residence especially on the Lake of the Ozarks!

Jeff and Gina have been in their lake house at Osage Beach on Lake of the Ozarks for just about 7 months.  They have consolidated their lives and moved together to reach their dream of living permanently at their vacation playground.

Jeff and Gina and Jeff's Dad, Bill, and Tim

We meet Bill, Jeff's dad, visiting from Indiana (where Jeff spent much of his childhood prior to graduating from Perdue in West Lafayette, Indiana.)  Bill is a delight, bright-minded, with strong traditional values.  I found that we were a great match in the game of pool.  We could make one game last near an hour and of course, he let me win one game of three!

Gina is, well, everything Shania Twain must be.  (She looks like Shania)!   Positive, fun, talented, thoughtful, and a congenial hostess.  Gina planned and cooked meals for us and visited with us in between her working shifts.  We toured their well-appointed house as Gina has the knack and talent for interior decorating.  There was even a neon "Margaritaville" sign in the bar area!
Everywhere I looked I saw taste and colors and style that are so comfortable and suitable to Jeff and Gina's personality.
Gina put together a Family collection of photos above an interesting table made from an old-fashioned trunk.   Her two daughters are successful, career-bound as they are well over 21 years old.  The youngest is making her home in Tampa Bay, Florida; the oldest daughter, married this year, is in Seattle.  Gina and Jeff have the option of West Coast or East Coast for the family visits!

It was a pleasure to look at the style in each room with a subtle theme of Mermaid and her loving Pirate!  Views of the Lake from every window!!!

Jeff BBQ'd dinner on their patio overlooking the Lake of the Ozarks with a towering view of the river with interesting, active views of the water from each direction.

We went out to dinner at one of their favorite places right on the water on Bagnell Dam Blvd, Lake Ozark: JB Hooks.  Prime Rib and Salmon were had by all for a delightful dinner out on the town.

More photos from their house and deck.
Gina has 20 years experience in her own greenhouse and gift shop business.  She has a knack for growing beautiful potted flowers.

MORE Views from the deck!

The tour of the house completed, we journeyed to their private triple-slip boat dock.  No need for steps; there is a European designed trolley car to take us down to the dock.

Dock Bar is Open; the dog, Sarge, first in line!

The gentlemen are relaxing and having a beer on the dock.  No need for a boat this first season of moving into this estate.  We are right here on the water!
The boat dock is ready to serve a boat and two guest boats!

Tim sitting lakeside with views everywhere.
Let The FIN Begin!!!!

Jeff and Gina: the sign says it all: Yachtman's Mermaid, Capt. Jeff and Mermaid Gina.

The dock house is a counter bar with refrigerator, filled with Land Shark and Ulta's too.  Also, for the ladies, Jeff installed a bathroom.
No need for a boat.....yet.  Here at the dock, it is comfortably designed for many to sit and be next to the water.  The dock is built with cables from each side for minimal wave rocking.

We spent a wonderful afternoon waterside on the boat dock and Sarge, the dog, showed us his trick of beer drinking from a paper plate!

Of the nearly dozen marinas nearby, we toured a couple a few miles from their house.
The Redhead Marina with bar and restaurant, pool, and gift shop, and Yacht Sales.

The Lake of the Ozarks is a total area of 84 square miles, 1,150 miles of shoreline with the main channel of the Osage Arm stretching 92 miles.  It has earned its nickname: The Magic Dragon Street Meet.  The many coves of the fingers add to the boat playground.  Jeff and Gina have spent many summer vacations in their former boat in Party Cove.

A land yacht of sorts.

The Bagnell Dam (named from William Bagnell, who platted the town in 1883) is the cause of all this super boating here at Lake of the Ozarks.  Although the dam was built on the Osage River in 1931 for the purpose of hydroelectric power generation, it has made Lake of the Ozarks a premier lake destination.   The 148' tall concrete gravity dam was built by the Union Electric Company (owned now by AmerenUE).  Tim and I discovered the Union Power & Electric Light Company in St. Louis which AmerenUE now owns.  AmerenUE serves 1.2 million power customers.

The Willmore Lodge and Point property are provided by AmerenUE.  It serves as a retreat overlooking Lake of the Ozarks.  It was built, in Adirondack rustic style logs with a stone veneer foundation.   In 1930 Union Electric Company built it as an Administration Office during the Bagnell Dam project.

Back at Jeff and Gina's house, we be playing......and playing.

Gotta get it in the hole.......any which way ya can!

OK, there is a winner in the room.  Sarge is applauding too!

The real Champions of the World!

Talk and visit about old times as Construction Engineers on the state of the art:
Lincoln Plaza  (CalPERS) project in Sacramento back in 1984, where Tim and Jeff met nearly fresh out of College.  This is a photo of the crew with MaryEllen front and center.

It is time to go.  It has been a terrific visit and one to add to the fine memories of Construction Engineers as they leave the peek of their careers to find themselves letting the Fin Begin!
Lake of the Ozarks with the Peeks is an experience: "Ya Just Have To Be There"!

On the Road Again, heading South a bit to Bentonville, Walmart World Headquarters, and then WEST to follow Route 66 to California.

Road Photos!

 On the Road!

No Worries!
