Greenport, New York via Cross Sound Ferry-NewLondon, CT to arrive Long Island, NY 10/8 - 10/12/2021

Departed from New London, Connecticut, crossed the Long Island Sound by ferry to arrive at our campground: McCann Campground, Greenport, NY on Long Island.

Tim is enjoying the views of Long Island and the lighthouses on the ferry ride from New London, Connecticut to Orient Point, Long Island.
We arrive at Orient Point on Long Island...ready to depart the ferry.

 Mile Marker #30 according to Postmaster General Ben Franklin set in 1755 to make the Post Road from here to Riverhead, Long Island.

Greenport is a village in New York on the North Fork of Long Island.   It was a major port for its area having developed a strong fishing and whaling industry in the past.    First settled in 1682.  Greenport is the eastern terminal station on the north fork of the Long Island Rail Roa

Woodstock is quite comfortable in his chair in the RV.
Greenport is a walkable harbor, historic district, and marina filled with charm, boutiques, and marine supplies.


From Greenport to the Historic Hallock House of Southhampton's
 first Horse and Buggy Doctor. 
Southampton Homes streets are bounded by groomed greenery and gates at each entrance of these beautiful summer homes.

Town of Southampton founded 1640 - Andross Patent 1676 Dungan Patent 1686 Oldest English Colony in the State of New York.
Here is Dada Jason and Rose Elizabeth at the pumpkin farm in Sacramento. 
 Rose is almost 4 mo.

Fruit stands are abundant here on the North Fork of Long Island.
It is October and time for pumpkins and hay rides.

Family-friendly Amagansett School in East Hampton
Amagansett hamlet is in the Town of East Hampton and is among the most popular hamlets in The Hamptons.
There is an Octoberfest Parade on the main street with police directing traffic to go around.

Montauk Point State Park is known as the end of the world for its breathtaking views with its dramatic, steep cliffs and ocean views. famous for its fishing, claiming to have more world saltwater fishing records than any other port in the world. (movie filmed here: "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".

Rocky shores are popular for surf fishing, surfing, walking, and views of converging tides of ocean and sound.
Montauk is a perfect little escape from reality tucked away on the tip of Long Island.

M. Olivia Sage Summer Home - teacher, philanthropist and advocate for women's rights. Now Whalers museum.
Sag Harbor village in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton on eastern Long Island.  
It was designated as the first port of entry to the new United States.

Sag Harbor Ferry to Greenport
Sag Harbor was settled by English colonists sometime between 1707 and 1730.  Sag Harbor became a major port for the whaling and processing and sale of whale oil.  By 1789 Sag Harbor had more tons of square=rigged vessels engaged in commerce
 than even New York City. 
 It had become an international port.
